24 Bike this trail

For a good bike ride, which can be as long or short as you desire, try out the trail around Eel Lake, just north of Lakeside at William M. Tugman State Park, on the east side of U.S. Highway 101.

A trail encircles this freshwater lake and its inlets for miles. The uphills and downhills provide texture, and the path is wide enough for maneuvering. There are plenty of view spots, a few wooden benches and easy turn-arounds.

Edible wild berries can be found during the summer and fall months for a sweet/tart treat.

Bring drinking water, and while children 16 and under are required to wear helmets, head protection is smart for any age.

The trail head can be found on the south side of Eel Lake's boat launch. Its beginning crosses a small bridge, tucked at the edge of the large grassy area good for picnicking and play.

Also, there's a campground with 44 campsites to the south of Eel Lake.
