28 Hike isle trail

Tide Ways Island Memorial Park on Bolon Island, between Reedsport and Gardiner, features a trail that winds through a forest of evergreens. On the far side of the island are trees that have been decimated by nesting cormorants' droppings. Yes, the branches of the trees die, but the droppings create excellent fertilizer for future vegetation growth.

To get to the trail, travel north on U.S. Highway 101 through Reedsport, go across the bridge and the park will be on your left.
