39 Learn dunes safety

Rev it on the dunes, but be wise about all-terrain vehicle racing and fun.
Don't drink and drive an ATV. Riding the dunes requires sobriety, skill and quick reflexes. Keep these other tips in mind, too.

Think ahead, when you're in unfamiliar dunes or you're tired from a long day, slow down. Many accidents occur on the last ride of the day.

Beware of standing water. It is hard to tell if it is a puddle or a 10-foot pool.
Scout the area before you ride, and watch for fallen trees, soft and saturated (quick) sand, water ” and other ATV users. Travel in pairs and remeber to carry your required orange safety flag.

The speed limit on the beach is 25 mph.

Don't forget the golden rule: śdo unto others¦"
And for families, children under 18 may operate a Class 1 ATV only if they have a valid driver's license and have a valid Class 1 operator's permit, or if they are with someone who does.
