50 Pick a pool to swim

If the Pacific Ocean and nearby lakes, streams and rivers don't tempt you, the Bay Area has two swimming pools that are open to visitors.

˘ Mingus Park Pool, in Mingus Park on North 10th Street, Coos Bay, 267-1360.

˘ North Bend Pool, 2455 Pacific Ave., 756-4915. Public swim is offered daily during the summer; call for the schedule.

˘ There also is a pool in Coquille at the Coquille Community Building, 115 N. Birch St., 396-6574. While the kids frolic under the watchful eye of a lifeguard, parents can stop by the library next door or shop downtown.

˘ In Reedsport, you want to head to Highland Pool, located at 2605 Longwood Drive, (541) 271-9222.
