Agate hunters don't necessarily have to dodge waves at all time.

Several Bandon shops offer an alternative for rock and gem enthusiasts. Jailhouse Rocks on U.S. Highway 101 at Fillmore Avenue is a small shop that at one time was the city of Bandon's jail (thus the name). Owners Kay Bell and Bob Andrist visit Mexico each year to replenish their selection of gems and rocks from all over the world, including many carved stone items. The couple also makes their own jewelry.

Riverview Gems on Second Street in Old Town has a selection of rocks and gems.

Whisky Run Jewelry has been owned and operated by George Gaspar in Old Town for more than 30 years. He offers jewelry, gems and fossils and also makes his own creations at his shop next to La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant on First Street.
