71 Hook up your horse trailer

Hook up the horse trailer and head out into the wilds of Coos County.

The region is very popular with horseback riders. Riders and their horses have more than a half-dozen trails from which to choose. Trails vary from easy to difficult and meander in areas along the ocean to pathways in the Coast Range.

Do be aware that several of the trails also allow are used by a variety of recreationalists, including hikers, mountain bikers and all-terrain vehicle riders.
Coos Bay's North Spit and the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area are popular spots. The dunes recreation area and nearby U.S. Bureau of Land Management land have several improved horse trails. In addition, the Wild Mare Campground has one campsite and 12 corral sites for riders and horses who plan to stay and play.
