75 Go fly a kite at the beach

Go fly a kite at the beach There's no better place to do it than on the Oregon Coast. Beaches are the perfect places for kite-flying. Pick up a kite at a local department or specialty store and head to the beach. Don't forget snacks and sun screen. Summer winds pick up around 10 a.m. and can really bluster, so plan to dress for warmth, too.

Downtown Coos Bay has its own kite shop near the Coos Bay Boardwalk.

Do watch for signs on small beach areas around Bandon and north of North Bend, where western snowy plover restrictions are in effect. Nesting areas are clearly marked where the threatened shorebirds are raising chicks. Keep kites, which resemble predators to shorebirds, clear of those areas.
