79 Shop at farmers' market

Several communities host them through the spring and summer months.

Fresh produce is available almost daily at markets along the South Coast.

The Coquille Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays at the Community Center downtown. For more information, those interested can visit, or call 396-3894.

The downtown Coos Bay Farmers Market is held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays, on the first couple blocks of Central Avenue through the fall. The market includes seasonal fruits and vegetables, baked goods, nursery plants, flowers, crafts and more.

North Bend's Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Ave., will host a Saturday farmers' market tentatively scheduled June 21 through September. Organizers are planning to sell fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants and a few plant-related items, in addition to nuts and honey. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Bandon's popular Little Farmers Market opens Saturday, July 5, in Old Town near the north entrance to Old Town. The market will feature locally grown produce from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until sold out, each Saturday through Sept. 20.

Many of the produce vendors at the markets will accept USDA Senior Nutrition and WIC vouchers.
