26 Run the training grounds of Olympian Steve Prefontaine

 Run the training grounds of Olympian Steve Prefontaine For runners looking for a big challenge, the Circle the Bay road run, the signature event of the South Coast Running Club, is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 2. People can participate in this event either as individuals or as members of three-person relay teams. Walkers also are welcome. Shorter races also are available, including:Jennifer's Catching Slough Classic on Saturday, June 21, a 12-kilometer race or 5-kilometer run along Catching Slough Road just east of Coos Bay. For information, call Pete Dawson (541) 267-6329 or Claudia Benn (541) 267-3489.
Mayor's Firecracker Run, a 4-kilometer race in Mingus Park, is held on Friday, July 4. For information, call Rex Miller (541) 269-1199.
